New York Jets Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis is planning to back up his big talk Monday night against Randy Moss when the Vikings take the field at New Meadowlands Stadium.
After missing the last two-and-a-half quarters of the Jets' 28-14 over New England on Sept. 19th with a strained left hamstring,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Revis finally feels almost right and of course would like a second chance at stopping Moss. He was beaten by Moss on a 34-yard touchdown pass in that first meeting and pulled up lame at the end of the play grabbing his left hamstring.
Collin Stephenson of The Newark Star-Ledger reported that team doctors have cleared Revis to play and the decision is up to him as only he knows how close he is to being 100 percent. Revis told reporters he will wait until Sunday or Monday to make a final determination, but as of Friday, "I'm preparing myself to battle against the Minnesota Vikings."
Jets coach Rex Ryan is hoping that's the case, even though Antonio Cromartie has done a decent job in Revis' absence and New York is 3-1 and 3-0 inside the AFC East.
"The doctors and trainers think he's alright, but until the young man says that he's ready to go, I don't think he's back yet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],'' Ryan said. "Until he says that he's ready to go, there is that doubt. He knows his body better than anybody. Better than doctors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], trainers, whatever. He knows what he's feeling back there.''
So the suspense will continue to build, which is exactly what the people depending on television ratings want.
Meanwhile, on the official injury report Revis was limited in practice along with defensive end Shaun Ellis (knee), offensive tackle Wayne Hunter (shin), center Nick Mangold (shoulder), guard Brandon Moore (hamstring) and linebacker Jamaal Westerman (ankle). Fullback John Conner (neck), linebacker Calvin Pace (foot) and linebacker Jason Taylor (elbow) practiced in full. The two teams don't have to designate who's out, questionable or probable until Saturday.
